Professional interns

Pausing, changing or ending an internship

Internships get interrupted — illness, study, a job that ends, a supervisor who leaves. Tell RIA when it happens rather than at completion.

Your supervisor changes

Get the period signed off before they go

Have the departing supervisor sign off the period completed before they go. This is the single most useful thing you can do, and it is almost impossible to obtain a year later. Then notify RIA and register the new supervisor.

You need to pause, or stop altogether

If you need to suspend your internship, or to withdraw from it, write to the Registrar before the break begins at architectsofrwanda@gmail.com or +250 788 753 224. The Registrar will confirm how your completed time is treated and on what terms you may resume.

Your entry on the register

An interrupted internship is visible in RIA's records. What matters is that your entry is accurate: if your supervisor changes, if you pause, or if you stop, your register entry should reflect it. Tell RIA when it happens rather than at completion.
